What is University Equivalency Certificate?

How to Apply for University Equivalency Certificate?

Foreign students who want to obtain a university equivalency certificate from Turkey can make a preliminary application for obtaining a university equivalence certificate online through YOK’s website and the following documents, which are stated to be required in the application for equivalence, must be provided.

  • Online equivalency pre-application form,
  • declaration of consent,
  • A photocopy of the identity document issued by the country of nationality or a photocopy of the page showing the identity information of the passport,
  • The original of the diploma or graduation certificate for which recognition and/or equivalence is requested, and its Turkish translation approved by the notaries of the Republic of Turkey or the foreign representatives of the Republic of Turkey,
  • The original transcript containing all the courses taken during higher education, showing the course hours/credits and course grades, and its Turkish translation approved by the notaries of the Republic of Turkey or the foreign representatives of the Republic of Turkey,
  • Original Diploma Supplement for diplomas received from European Union member countries and its Turkish translation approved by the notaries of the Republic of Turkey or the foreign representatives of the Republic of Turkey,
  • If there are courses transferred from another higher education institution to the graduated higher education institution, the original transcript showing these courses and its Turkish translation approved by the notaries of the Republic of Turkey or the foreign representatives of the Republic of Turkey,
  • For diplomas obtained from a higher education institution operating in another country, depending on a higher education institution operating in one country, the original of the recognition or equivalence certificate issued by the country of study and its Turkish translation approved by the notaries of the Republic of Turkey or the foreign representatives of the Republic of Turkey,
  • The original of the recognition or equivalence certificate issued by the competent authorities of the country in which the relevant higher education institution operates, and its Turkish translation approved by the notaries of the Republic of Turkey or the Foreign Representatives of the Republic of Turkey,
  • Document showing that applicants with dual citizenship have lived in the country where they studied during their education,
  • Photocopy of the processed pages of the passports used during higher education, showing the entry-exit dates,
  • Written statements of foreign nationals showing the reason for applying for graduation recognition or diploma equivalence certificates for associate, undergraduate and graduate diplomas,
  • COLOR photocopy of all documents requested during the equivalence application,
  • A receipt showing that the application fee has been paid.

 

After the documents listed above are completed, an Online Recognition and Equivalency Pre-Application must be made at http://denklikbasvuru.yok.gov.tr/denklik/yu-denklik-basvuru-form. After the pre-application is completed, an appointment must be made from the same system in order to proceed to the examination stage. and all documents must be submitted to YÖK Recognition and Equivalency Services Department.

 

If all documents are complete, the preliminary examination process begins. At the next stage, after the examination to be made on the application file, the Recognition and Equivalence Commission makes a final decision and the application is decided by YÖK. As a result, decisions about granting equivalence, refusal or level qualification can be made.

Who Can Apply? Those who study at private education institutions at the international primary and secondary educational level and at the schools opened by embassies in the country and at the primary and secondary education institutions in Turkey and abroad can apply.

For Turkish Citizens;
The original and the copy of identity card
The original and the copy of the passport page with photo
The copy of stamped pages displaying entry-exit dates
For Foreign Citizens;
The original and the copies of the residency permit in Turkey or education visa.
The original and the copy of the passport page with photo
For non-graduates;
The original and the copy of report card or transcript of the latest grade.
For graduates;
The original and the copy of apostilled diploma and transcript


ATTENTION-2
Documents requested from the applicants within the scope of the special case:
1-Those who cannot submit their documents due to war, disaster and/or asylum,
2-Those who have "International Protection Status Holder Identity Document" or "International Protection Applicant Identity Document"
3-If the education documents are not available, it is enough to upload only the mentioned documents for applicants with the decision of an education measure by a court judgement.

ATTENTION-3
In addition to these, if there are the following situations, they should be added considering;
1-Identity card/passport of the mother/father for those under the age of 18,
2- Original and approved translation (if necessary) of the parent consent letter, university pre-registration document/student certificate for applicants who are under the age of 18 and will register in the university,
3- Original and approved translation of the custody document proofing that the student custody is in the applicant for those whose parents got divorced.
4-If there is a change in the surname in the education certificate and identity card/passport due to reasons such as marriage, divorce, the marriage certificate and/or identity register copy must be uploaded.
